If you go to chatsimple.ai today, you land on expertise.ai: a marketplace of “GTM skills” for revenue teams. The train-on-your-website chatbot that made Chatsimple popular lives on as “Expertise Live,” reachable through a small link above the new hero that reads “Looking for our Chatbot solution?”
The prices moved with the positioning. The AI Agent plans now run $500 a month (Growth) and $1,250 a month (Business, with implementation by their team), with a free preview capped at 10 conversations. That is a real product for a real buyer, but it is not the product SMBs signed up for at chatbot prices.
If you were that customer, here is the honest map.
What made Chatsimple worth using, so you can look for it elsewhere
Three things, mostly: you could point it at your website and get a working agent fast; it was priced for small businesses; and it caught leads when it could not answer. Judge every alternative on those three.
The alternatives, honestly
Chatbase ($32 a month, free plan) is the safest like-for-like swap: train a bot on your content, embed it, done. The category benchmark, with the category's largest ecosystem. You get a widget bot; the inbox behind it is not the product.
Chatling ($40 a month, or $32 annual, free plan with 100 credits) is the nearest thing to Chatsimple's old price and shape. Note its credits are model-multiplied (a reply costs 0.5 to 14 credits depending on model), so read the credit table before sizing a plan.
ChatNode ($35 a month, free plan) is a straightforward SMB bot with aggressive de-risking. Similar trade: bot only.
SiteGPT ($39 a month billed annually, about $65 monthly) trains on your site and leans on per-message metering (a question plus its answer counts as two messages).
Tidio (live chat from about $24, Lyro AI from $32.50) if you want human live chat first with AI on top, especially in ecommerce.
Expertise Live itself, if your real need grew into sales plays and HubSpot-centric routing and your budget grew with it. Their new customers seem happy; the testimonials on their own site carry strong numbers. It is simply a different product at a different price now.
Retily ($0, $39, or $79 a month, flat) is ours, so discount for bias: the same enter-your-URL start (you can build the agent on your site before creating an account), but with the support system included: shared email inbox, tickets, live chat, knowledge base, and team workspace. One credit is one AI answer, no model multipliers. When the AI does not know, it says so, takes the customer's email, and opens a ticket. The free plan carries 200 AI answers a month with every feature.
Who should actually pick what
You want the cheapest working bot and nothing else: Chatbase or Chatling.
You sell on Shopify and live in ecommerce chat: Tidio (or look at Gorgias, which is built for that world and priced per resolution).
You outgrew “bot” and want the whole support desk with the AI in it: that is the gap Retily exists for.
You became a revenue team with budget: stay with Expertise AI; it is now built for you.
One migration warning
Chatsimple's old selling points included broad channel coverage. Channel lists change in pivots, so whatever channel matters to you (WhatsApp, Messenger, SMS), verify it exists on the plan you are buying, at every vendor, in writing on the pricing page.
